chapter 11 response:
There are many uses of technology and their aids, both newer and older. one of the ones I couls possibly use in a classroom is a talking book. I could present this to the class, and have them follow along with an excerpt from a book, instead of me reading to them. another older aid in technology I plan on using is the TV. we will use this in the classroom to watch political debates, or movies or news shows. among the newer emerging technologies, I could get a great deal of use out of the document camera by projecting a copy of a government document and having my students analyze it. another newer technology I could use in my classroom would be the internet radio, maybe if the TV isn't working, a political speech would be on there, or listen to old Roosevelt speeches.

chapter 6 response:
Based on the information in chapter six, I would prefer to have less digital technologies in my classroom. I would still like to have a computer obviously, and a TV to play movies and shows for the students, also a smart board for my classroom, but nothing out of the ordinary. In my own personal classroom I would prefer less because of the simple fact that the subject matter I plan to teach is History. Teaching American history and government does not require the use of too much technology, besides the occasional movie, and notes every day with some interactive activities for the students. I plan on getting my students to reach the creative side of their intelligence through the use of fun group projects and hand-made posters and other such activities. therefor, the use of too much technology seems almost distracting to my students with my subject matter.

FYI for ME :)
FYI
Dossier for: Sara Murphy
Major: AYA social studies education
- I want my friends to describe me as outgoing, down to earth, and fun to be around.
- Memorable learning experience: Last semester in EDHD I was able to learn from a very hands on experience with younger children, and how to educate that certain group.
- My favorite subject at school and why: Government because math and science were boring to me and complicated, and english was also boring. Government is always changing and always on the news.
- Accomplishment I most cherish: The time management skills I gained from working 25 hours a week, with 3 five hour practices a week for show choir and no free Saturdays, while maintaining an A- average in school. which prepared me for college more than anything else could have. I am more grateful for this than any small items like awards I have won which are only tangible and sit collecting dust instead of being put to use.
- My work habits can
best be described as: Very hard working and 100% committed to what I am working on.
- Three words that describe me best: Bubbly, diligent, and fun. (says my friend)
- People may be surprised to know: Justin Bebier might be a girl. Just kidding!! (we hope)
- What I hope to be doing in ten years: I hope to be teaching in either a high school, or college classroom located somewhere other than Ohio.
- What I do in my spare time: Dancing, singing, photography (both film and digital), and modeling, and boating.
- Things I can do without: Soda
- My all-time favorite movie: That is about the hardest question I have ever had to answer. I'm not sure if I can answer it.
- BG’s best kept secret: I would tell you, but then it wouldn't be a secret now would it??
- Three things always found in my refrigerator: Bread, pineapples, and cheese.
- Person I would like to meet: Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly
- What are your general expectations about
this class? i hope to become much more comfortable with computers in general and using applications to their full capabilities.
- How comfortable are you using Windows? How
comfortable are you using Macs? I'm fairly comfortable with both, but could learn much more with Macs.
- Which application(s) do you use the most? The internet?
- Which application(s) do you want to learn
how to use? as many as I can handle
- Is there anything I need to know about you? I'm great with technology when it comes to about anything except computers. That is where i am a little more lost, but not completely.
- What is your attitude about using
technology? depends on the day
